THE ARTIST
Martin Walde’s works are aimed at facilitating first-hand experience, so as to make discontinuities visible and, in the course of performative interaction, pursue the meaning of the individual and of poetic moments in everyday life. In the manner of early animation, he has situations and times intertwine so as to link social reality to matters extraordinary, personal and narrative. These situations he avails himself of, when, through minimal interventions, he fools perception and a glass top appears to hover on the end of a length of rubber hose, while a drawer balances upside down on two chair backs.
